For kids across the world, trick-or-treating and spooky activities are time-honored traditions on Halloween. But Better2gether RVA’s annual Halloween Hustle on October 28 gives families in the Richmond community another opportunity to dress up, get active, play games and win special prizes while supporting a great cause.
Since 2019, the event has raised money toward Better2gether RVA’s mission of supporting children with complex illnesses and their families. This year, the organization set a fundraising goal of $65,000 by October 28. As of October 10, it had collected $41,000.

What to Expect
The Halloween Hustle, which includes a fun run, 5K and other Halloween activities, is located at Performance Food Group (12500 West Creek Parkway).
Leading up to the race, participants can help raise extra funds by setting up individual or team fundraisers. There will be special rewards for the individual and team who raises the most money, the largest team and the team deemed “Most Spirited.”
On your mark, get set, go! On October 28, children 12 and under are invited to participate in the Kids Hocus Pocus Run beginning at 8:30 a.m., while adults can choose between a timed or untimed 5k starting at 9 a.m. Race participants get sunglasses and a T-shirt, and the top male, female and senior finishers will receive an award before the real fun begins…
After working up a sweat, participants can unwind and enjoy Halloween activities at the Call Federal Credit Union Race Festival – complete with a costume contest, games and allergy-safe trick-or-treating.
Don your best costume for a chance to win a prize! The Best Couples Costume, Best Group Costume, Best Kids Costume, Most Creative Costume and Best Overall will be awarded.

About Better2gether RVA
Better2gether RVA is a Richmond-based nonprofit helping children with complex illnesses and their families. It provides families in need with resources to care for sick children, financial support to cover treatments and daily living expenses (e.g., gift cards toward gas stations and grocery stores) and counseling to help family members move through grief and emotional situations.
In addition to resources and connections, one of its primary programs supplies “Better Bags” to families experiencing long hospital stays and organizes fun events so kids and parents alike can connect with others going through similar circumstances.
