Registration Now Open for 22nd Annual Anthem LemonAid Event to Benefit Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU

The Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU is excited to announce that registration for one of Richmond’s most beloved summer fundraising events, Anthem LemonAid presented by Richmond Ford, is now open. The 22nd annual Anthem LemonAid will take place over the weekend of July 22-24, 2022.

During the weekend event, hundreds of lemonade stands will pop up throughout the Richmond area to benefit hematology and oncology services at CHoR. Anyone who is interested in hosting a lemonade stand is encouraged to register now to secure a kit. Registration is free and the kit includes lemonade mix, cups, a pitcher and Anthem LemonAid signage. Registrants can select the location of their choice for the stand and raise funds through lemonade sales.

Each year, an Anthem LemonAid ambassador is selected to help promote the event. This year’s ambassador is Thomas Carley, an 11-year-old patient at CHoR who was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia in December 2020. In the role of ambassador, Carley will visit area lemonade stands and encourage others to support the hospital.

“I decided to participate because I wanted to help people like me who have cancer,” said Carley, who is a fifth-grader at Collegiate School in Richmond.

Registration will remain open until July 19. LemonAid stand kit pickup will be held on Wednesday, July 20 and Thursday, July 21 on the front lawn of CHoR’s Brook Road hospital campus. Once registered, additional details about kit pickup will be provided closer to the event.

“We look forward to this sweet Richmond event every year, as it’s so exciting to think about a weekend where thousands of Richmonders are showing their support for CHoR by either hosting a stand or buying lemonade,” said Lauren Moore, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We’re eager to see the registrations start coming in and watch the momentum build for another great season of Anthem LemonAid presented by Richmond Ford.”

“Investing in our community is key to our mission and something that is extremely important for me and for our associates, and this is one of my favorite events,” said Jeff Ricketts, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia. “We are excited to continue our long-time support of this summertime tradition, which makes a lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of so many vulnerable children in Virginia.”

Since the event’s inception in 2000, Anthem LemonAid has raised more than $1,113,000 for CHoR.
