Ten Years of artoberVA with CultureWorks

October is an exciting month as CultureWorks presents its 10th “artoberVA,” a month-long celebration of arts and culture across the Richmond and Tri-Cities area. This year is all about commemorating how far artoberVA has come since its inception in 2016 and looking to the future to see how much more it can grow.

CultureWorks started artoberVA to further its mission to increase access to free experiences related to arts and culture across disciplines. Each October, hundreds of events are lined up and promoted to underserved areas, making art and culture accessible to all.

There are a number of fun events and activities to enjoy during artoberVA, which can be found on its website. Here are the highlights:

Pay-What-You-Will Event Series

This series extends the entire month and allows attendees the opportunity to participate in a wide range of fun events, classes, performances and activities from over 40 participating venues while contributing to admission at a price point within their means. The following are an example of what is offered.

  • “Upstaged”: An Improvised Sitcom

Artoberfest 2025

This free event takes place on October 18 from 3-7 p.m. at Petersburg Harbor. There will be activities for all ages, including face painting, screen printing, music, art, food trucks and more. Learn more about the fourth annual festival here.

artoberVA Arts and Culture Summit

On October 30 from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Studio Two Three, this free networking opportunity gives professionals, creatives, and art and culture peers a chance to connect with and learn from industry leaders. Panels and presentations will range in topics covering branding, art advocacy and more.
