The Doorways Takes Annual SAVOR Gala to New Heights

The Doorways is set to elevate its annual SAVOR fundraiser by hosting the highly anticipated event in a helicopter hangar at Richmond International Airport. On Saturday, March 8, guests will gather at HeloAir’s 17,500-square-foot hangar for an unforgettable evening of gourmet dining, auctions and live music.

“HeloAir will be a fun, one-of-a-kind setting for the 16th SAVOR…” said Stacy Brinkley, president & CEO of The Doorways. “Proceeds from this spectacular event benefit our mission to provide lodging and support services for patients and their loved ones who need to be close to the hospital or medical facility but not far from the feeling of home.”

One of the nation’s largest hospital hospitality houses, The Doorways (see past coverage) provides accommodations to nearly 10,000 guests annually. It remains the largest facility of its kind that operates entirely on a donation basis and relies on the success of its annual flagship fundraiser.

SAVOR is renowned for bringing together some of the best Virginia culinary talents. This year’s event will feature dishes crafted by award-winning chefs, including Travis Milton (Hickory at Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards in Bristol), Ian Boden (Maude & The Bear/The Shack in Staunton) and Joy Crump (Foode & Mercantile in Fredericksburg), among others.

Attendees also will have the opportunity to bid on luxury auction items, from original artwork and entertainment packages to exclusive dining experiences and incredible travel destinations.

For the first time in years, live music and dancing are back on the program with entertainment provided by The English Channel, America’s premier British Invasion tribute band.

SAVOR has been a staple of Richmond’s philanthropic calendar since 2009, when it was launched to celebrate The Doorways’ 25th anniversary. Over the years, the event has grown in scale and impact, attracting top sponsors and raising vital funds for the organization’s mission.

Leslie Stack, past board member and longtime SAVOR committee member, has been instrumental in shaping the event’s vision by using her connections in the hospitality industry to “reimagine the typical banquet-style fundraising dinner.”

“I’ve always dreamed of having SAVOR take place in an airport hangar because I love the challenge of going into a new space and creating something extraordinary that sparks curiosity,” Stack said. “Now that dream is coming true.”

Be sure to join The Doorways at SAVOR 2025 for a night of elegance, excitement and impact. Tickets for the event are available on The Doorways website, starting at $350.
