‘Tis the season for Arts & Ideas at Weinstein JCC

Are you looking for a new page turner to curl up with this winter? Do you want to learn more about traditional Jewish comfort food? The Weinstein Jewish Community Center’s winter lineup has everything from galleries to book fairs to family theater. There is more to come in the Arts and Ideas season in 2023, but below you will find the events that will take you through the Holidays.

Paper Jewels by artist Julia Malakoff

Nov. 3 – Dec. 30

Paper Jewels is a collection of work that began during the COVID pandemic and evolved over the past two years, lifting the darkness and letting in the light. There’s an opportunity to meet the artist, and the event is free to attend.

Sip and Learn with Shannon Sarna: Modern Jewish Comfort Food

Thursday, Nov. 17 at 12 p.m.

From Kugel to Kreplach, the perfect cookbook for the holidays is within your reach. Come for the cooking demo and stay for a lunch date with Shannon Sarna as she shares traditional Jewish recipes with a contemporary twist. The event fee is $30, which includes lunch.

Lana Melman: ‘Artists Under Fire’ (Virtual)

Monday, Nov. 21 at 12:30 p.m.

Lana Melman shines a glaring and necessary light on the hypocrisy of the BDS movement and how the use of popular celebrities and music groups to promote Palestinian propaganda is both an intimidation tactic and strategic antisemitism. Stand up against the lies and hate and tune in for Melman’s call to action.

David Michael Eisenstadt: Under the Radar (Virtual)

Anything Goes – 50th Anniversary Production

Dec. 8 – 18 at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s, de-lovely!” “Anything Goes” is back for its 50th anniversary production, featuring Cole Porter’s sensational musical score, filled to the brim with comedy, wit and some good old-fashioned blackmail.
