The adage goes, “April showers bring May flowers,” and this year, the Better Housing Coalition (BHC) is bringing this sentiment to life with its seventh annual Stay Home RVA event. Adopting a weather-related theme, the event highlights that regardless of the forecast, BHC can rely on the support of the community.
Dedicated to serving low- to moderate-income families and senior residents in the Greater Richmond area, BHC doesn’t just build and manage affordable housing. It also offers resources for first-time homebuyers, health and wellness programs for seniors and workforce development programs that together make substantial contributions to the community’s well-being.
Stay Home RVA offers a unique opportunity for the community to enjoy a night in with family and friends while supporting an important cause. Instead of spending money on a night out or a traditional gala, participants are encouraged to donate to BHC, directly aiding its mission to transform lives and communities through high-quality, affordable housing.
This event is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a symbol of hope for the families and senior residents BHC supports. With a goal of $65,000, the BHC aims to improve health, economic and academic outcomes for those within its care. The collective generosity and effort of donors enable BHC to empower its neighbors to overcome life’s challenges with increased resilience.
To enhance the event experience, BHC has curated a virtual swag bag brimming with weather-themed digital goodies. Donors gain access to an array of treats, including a “Stormy Serenades” playlist, recipes for a Dark n’ Stormy cocktail and “All Hail” sugar cookies, reading lists for all ages, a coloring book and exclusive discount vouchers for local Richmond attractions like Discover Richmond Tours and Penny’s Wine Shop in Jackson Ward.
