DESCRIPTION:Challenge yourself in 4 different events all for a great cause – to benefit our veterans. \n\n\n\n\nThe Minute to Win-It Fitness Fundraiser is a charity event with four different events and concluding with a donation-based yoga class. \nFunds from this event will benefit Liberation Veteran Services\, who provides homeless veterans with the care\, resources\, and stability they need to rebuild their lives. \nThe events are as follows: \n\nTest your grip strength. We will use a handheld goniometer.\nMinute to win-it: trap bar deadlifts. Do as many deadlifts as possible in 60 seconds.\nMinute to win-it: pull ups. Do as many pull ups as possible in 60 seconds.\nMinute to win-it: push-ups. Do as many push-ups as possible in 60 seconds.\n\nFor the purposes of this event\, there will be no lifting straps or supportive bands used for any of the exercises. In addition\, there are no variations of exercises allowed. For example\, trap bar deadlifts will be completed from the ground\, pull ups will only be from the pull up bar and without a band\, and push-ups will be done from the floor with legs extended. \nRegistration will be done separately for each event so participating in each one is not mandatory.

DESCRIPTION:Yom HaShoah\, the annual Day of Remembrance to honor the memory of millions of Jewish Holocaust victims\, will be observed in a ceremony at the Virginia Holocaust Museum on Sunday\, April 19\, 2026\, from 2-4pm. Admission is free\, but reservations are requested for planning purposes. \nThe program will feature the lighting of the Holocaust Memorial Candles by survivor families from the Richmond region\, the awarding of the Carole Weinstein Prizes for Tolerance and Justice in the Visual Arts\, and a keynote address by internet sensation Miriam Malnik-Ezagui followed by a Q&A from the audience. \nAs a social media influencer\, Malnik-Ezagui has a significant following on several social media platforms including Facebook (over one million followers)\, Instagram (1.4 million followers) and TikTok (more than two million followers). Her educational and heartfelt videos accrue over three billion annual video views from over 350 million consumers globally. She and her husband are Orthodox Jews and are raising their five daughters in that tradition. Her videos share details that provide an authentic window into many aspects of her life including food\, clothing\, Jewish traditions and religious requirements that she strictly adheres to. A third-generation descendant of Holocaust survivors\, she regularly speaks about her grandmother’s experiences during the Holocaust and how that history continues to shape her own life and identity.

The 1893 home will reopen its doors after two years of restoration and conservation work through the Maymont 2025 project. Scheduled guided tours will be available on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nOut on the Mansion lawn\, enjoy refreshments from local food trucks\, plus live entertainment and activities for all ages throughout the day\, like lawn games\, crafts\, and dancers showing how to do the Charleston and other dances from the 1920s\, when the home and estate first opened to the public. Members of the Art Deco Society of Virginia will be on hand wearing their best Jazz Age styles\, plus the Richmond Region Antique Car Club will bring some vintage cars from the 1920s and ’30s. This is the first of three big events celebrating Maymont’s 100th anniversary year!
