SUMMARY:2026 National Speech & Debate Tournament: Volunteers Needed
DESCRIPTION:This June\, Richmond will host the National Speech & Debate Tournament\, one of the largest academic competitions in the world. Thousands of students from every state will gather in our region to debate ideas\, tell stories\, and practice the essential skills of democracy—critical thinking\, respectful disagreement\, and confident communication. The event brings significant economic and community impact while showcasing Richmond as a city that values education\, civic life\, and the next generation of leaders. \nThe tournament will involve 7\,000 competitors and take place in some 750 classrooms across six schools in the region. Nearly 1\,000 local volunteers are needed to ensure the National Tournament runs smoothly. Please join us in welcoming these students\, either as individuals or with your businesses or community groups\, and showing them just how wonderful Richmond is. \n  \n
